Not at all needed for the PC to run smoothly. It\'s not even needed for any EA game to run! It isn\'t any virus or anything malicious but because it shouldn\'t be there at all (it\'s of NO use) I rate it 5. It only use your PC memory.

Oh by the way it doesnt open up any Electronic Arts web page. It\'s used for downloading games or patches. It\'s a download manager that you should run manually if needed.

it is usefull if you want to play games from EA and download patches for older games

While trying to update itself, it asked if I wanted to install an adobe live desktop program, which I declined. Immediately it ended update and core.exe disappeared from my comp totally, the only thing left was icon on desktop which pointed to nothing. I can't play any games I've downloaded from EA without it, so it is needed on some comps

i have a toshiba lap top with windows 7 i seached my computer for trace/hidden files and found this "ea core" i also have had a major problem with the "ea down-load manager" which i also believe was caused by refusing the "adobe" now my $20 sims 2 game wont work a all, it was working o.k. before all this happened. be warned!
