IAStorIcon is an executable file, which Intel developed. It is a program file associated to Intel Rapid Recovery Technology. The file is meant to provide the user a fast and easy method in recovering data and bring back the system to a status, which is operational. Most people thought that IAStorIcon is a type of malware or virus. However, it is not for it is legitimately developed by Intel Corp. Moreover, various third-party software programs and hardware require the executable file. Therefore, it should not be disabled. IAStorIcon.exe error is a common PC problem; however, this problem must be fixed. Most of the time, the error is caused by a Windows registry error. This can be solved by using an application that fixes registry errors. (Such as Glary Utilities or IOBit Advanced System Care) Otherwise it is not advised to fix this problem by your self. The better thing to do is to let a PC technician fix it for you.

Not only has this icon got extremely little usefulness (after all, if your hard disk fails, it will be once every 2 to 4 years, and when that happens you will know well before this icon warns you about it!!), but it is also extremely buggy, wantonly consuming memory: on a staggering 17% of PCs it consumes an unbelievable 70 to 86Mb of memory. You do not want this useless resources hungry icon running on your system - you can always start the Intel Rapid Storage software from Start \\ All Programs \\ Intel \\ Intel Rapid Storage. You can disable this icon.

This program is essential to keep, as it prevents certain viruses to gain access to your computer before other programs do. This prevents certain viruses from hijacking your computer before your other programs have even booted up, preventing locking up your computer. the FBI virus is a good example of this kind of virus.
