Part of Media Centre, My McAfee Security Centre wouldn\'t download updates until i turned it off, kept returning error messages. so i say REMOVE IT!!

ehtray.exe is a task run by Windows Media Center. It sometimes causes problems and it wont let your screensaver work. Deleting it is easy. Go to : Task Manager, Applications and end task ehtray.exe.

actually it's a startup process system that uses media center more accessible with other media purposes. It's harmless if you want to disable it's properties. It won't harm your screensaver or anything else...

Ehtray puts the volume display bars on the surface of your screen when you hit the volume up/down keys. If you find that meter display useful, make sure to have ehtray running. If you find it annoying, turn ehtray off. (I don't know what else it does, that's the only function of it that I ever see.)

If you're running an HP Pavillion dv7 Entertainment PC with Vista Home Premium w/Media Center, you will want to leave the ehTray.exe running as disabling or deleting it from the startup app may cause the Media Center controls near your keyboard to stop working. Does on mine.
