As the name suggests, this helps itunes to load faster once the program is executed, by partially loading at boot time. As with all these hidden applications, the boot time depends largely on the amount of RAM your system has. To a certain extent, the more RAM available, the quicker the boot-up time. Systems running XP with less that 1Gb of RAM are going to be slow, once such applications as itunes are installed. For Vista, 2Gb is recommended in order for the system to boot well.

Perfectly safe. It's installed along with iTunes and is there to synchronize iPods when they're connected to the PC.

It helps iTunes load faster and recognise iPods and iPhones once they are connected. If you have an iPod leave it there... if you don't turn it off!

Helps iTunes start faster, but is just extra startup baggage to me. Damn you Apple! All I wanted was MobileMe, and you make me install iTunes/Quicktime?! Why?!

It's ok to leave! However, I do not care for Itunes. Apple and AT&T are like a serpent!

Apple and Microsoft have such similar attitudes about "we know better than you - and you need THIS [bloated BS-on-a-stick]!" So why, oh, why, don't they just MERGE and get it over with? X)

If you use an iPod or iPhone, leave it running. If you only run iTunes occasionally and don't care about speeding it up, turn it off whenever you notice it running.

Pointless waste of resources inorder to make iTunes load faster.......not worth it. Even if you delete it from start up after a while it restarts by it's self anyway, it's like apples own little virus XD

Bloat, pretty disappointing more and more programs feel they need to write more separate programs running in the background.

It does make iTunes run much faster, but if the user does not want it, it is not required.
