i hate the thing, every time i use acrobat to read a pdf my dialup connection goes apesh*t and i see arm appear in the task manager - hmmm... - have renamed the arm folder to arm_disabled, we'll see if that stops the bastirds - isn't there a non-adobe pdf reader, yes!

I've been running Adobe software since they got started, and they've definitely gone downhill in the past 5 or so yrs. This is annoying spyware, and can be disabled.

Emiliano is right, I think, Adobe Reader (and FlashPlayer) are potential security risks, so its important to update them. So ARM could be helpfull if you doubt your own memory. Either way is ok - but they must be updated. Alternative PDFreeaders are interesting, but are they safer?

Hate it. It slows down my computer and it will take 15 minutes to complete something that should only take a few seconds when adobearm is running. NEEDS TO GO AWAY

Adobe Arm, otherwise known as Adobe Reader and Acrobat Manager, is an autoupdate utility that notifies you, downloads, and installs new updates for these products. If you install these updates manually then you do not need this program to start up automatically.

I removed this from msconfig, and manually kill it from task manager. It keeps on coming back. I'll be removing all adobe software if I can't get this thing out of here. It's not my problem these companies can't release software that needs security updates all the time. If they'd simply release secure software we wouldn't constantly have to run updates.

Does Reader work? yes, then leave the thing alone! Wait for a major update and manually download the new version, simples (remember to disable it again after the install Adobe don't ask to reenable they just do it (Wrong!). No it doesn't? - uninstall and try again (disabling updates) or use a 3rd party one...

@ FlyJack, it has absolutely nothing to do with ARM processors. Do you have an ARM processor in your PC? Doubtful. It is Adobe's Reader and Acrobat Manager. If you wish you can disable it in msconfig and do the updates manually, however note that when you update, it will be added back into startup again.  More information
